Chris Johnson – Promoted to Senior Tax Manager

Chris J headshot 2 (Resized).jpgChris Johnson moved to Wyoming and began working at MHP in July 2015. He is licensed to practice as a CPA in Wyoming and Colorado. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1996 and has since served small business clients and high wealth individuals for 20+ years in Denver, Fort Collins and Cheyenne. He specializes in accounting, income tax planning and tax preparation for corporations, partnerships and individuals.

When not at work, Chris spends time with family and friends both indoors and outdoors. Specifically, he enjoys playing cards/games, horseshoes, mountain biking, snowboarding, camping and other various outdoor activities.

We are pleased to announce that two of our Tax Senior Associates have been promoted to Tax Supervisors and three of our Tax Associates have been promoted to Senior Tax Associates.

Our new Tax Supervisors:

Erin Nuland began her career at MHP in January of 2013 after receiving her Bachelor's and Master's of Accountancy degrees from Colorado State University. She specializes in trust tax returns and high-income personal tax returns. Erin says, "I love doing tax work because there's always something new to learn, I never find the work to be boring or repetitive.  I particularly enjoy working on trust returns."

When not at work, Erin is very involved with her 3 boys under the age of 8, watching them play sports, coaching their soccer team and volunteering on the board of the Cheyenne Soccer Club. She also enjoys being able to play volleyball on the firm team.

Jacob Weisz came to MHP from Laramie, Wyoming via the University of Wyoming where he earned degrees in Accounting and Computer Science. He joined the tax department in 2013, where he prepares and reviews tax returns. His specialties include businesses and the oil and gas industry.

Outside of MHP, Jacob enjoys anything in the mountains – hiking, fly-fishing, bow-hunting, shooting and camping. He also spends some of his free time brewing his own beer.  However, that free time may be a little less now, as he welcomed a son 6 weeks ago.

Our new Senior Tax Associates:

Dennis Ruppert is a Cheyenne native, although he has lived in five states and three countries. He knew he wanted to become a CPA in the 9th grade and loves talking about finance, business, and real estate investing. He received his Associate's degree from Laramie County Community College, his Bachelor's in Finance from Colorado State University and his Master's from Keller Graduate School. Before coming to MHP, he was the finance manager for a non-profit organization.  Dennis joined MHP in August of 2015, beginning in the audit department, and in January 2017, he joined the tax department. When asked what he enjoys about the accounting field, Dennis stated, "I enjoy the opportunity to work with such a wide array of clients, as well as a management group with such a deep level of knowledge in all things accounting and tax."

Outside of work, Dennis is involved with church activities and spends time with his wife and three kids, extended family and friends. He enjoys playing golf, reading and watching movies

Myranda Lyda was born in Denver, Colorado but raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She received her Master's from the University of Phoenix in 2014. Before joining MHP in 2016, she was a staff accountant working on taxes, bookkeeping and payroll reports. Now, her focus is mainly trust and business tax returns. She enjoys the challenge of working in the accounting world.

When not at work, Myranda enjoys kayaking, fishing, shooting, archery, spending time with family and trying new hobbies.

Mike Scissons has been practicing public accounting for over 14 years and began his relationship with MHP in 1985 when the firm was McGladrey and Pullen. In 1994, he ventured out and pursued private sector jobs. In the last few years, Mike was working in public accounting and thought that MHP would be a good fit again. In August 2016, MHP welcomed him back and so it seems he has come full circle. Mike hopes that MHP will get him through to retirement! Mike works on various tax returns and also does monthly bookkeeping for several clients. When asked about his work, he says, "I enjoy my coworkers and the variety of work and clients – no day is quite the same."

When not at work, Mike enjoys working around the yard and helping his son with his various projects.
